August 24 @ 1:45PM DONATIONS... Our yearly hosting bill is coming up due (on September 16) and we would greatly appreciate it if our members would be willing to help us pay for it. Thanks! :) Thanks to Emy (Faolan), Jaybird (Ghoti), and Wingz (Evren), we're all paid up for another year. Thanks so much – to them and to everyone else who offered to contribute – for their generosity! <333

Characters
001. NUMBER OF CHARACTERS. You may play up to four (4) characters at one time, but be sensible. If you work all the time or are constantly tied up with school/college, please limit yourself appropriately. You will be expected to meet our activity requirements (see #002) with ALL of your characters, regardless of how busy you are. If you are always on absence or scarcity or are frequently having characters removed for inactivity, the Administration will limit you to fewer characters. You may play one adult character and one puppy character per pack, and either one Valley Creature or one Lone Wolf – not both!
002. ACTIVITY. You must be active with ALL of your characters. For our activity purposes, we divide each month into two activity periods; the first falls between the 1st and 15th of each month and the second falls between the 16th and the end of the month (the 28th-31st, depending on the month). Each pack's leaders will perform an activity check and rank shuffle on the 1st and 15th. During each activity period, which spans approximately 15 days, there is a minimum activity requirement: you must post no less than 3 times. That means that if you post twice, once or not at all, you will be removed for inactivity!
003. ORIGINALITY! You may not play characters from books, movies or other publications. It’s okay if your character is inspired by a publication, but you cannot use the actual characters themselves.
004. CHARACTER SWITCHING/DROPPING. We have no restrictions against character switching, but it is generally frowned upon to do it frequently. We encourage members to put thought and effort into their characters so that they are less likely to be dropped. Please PM your pack’s Alpha(s) if you are dropping a character so that your Alpha(s) can remove your character from the member lists.
IC Posts
005. POST TABLES Table graphics should be no wider than 500px and table text should be easily readable (not too dark/light, and appropriately sized).
006. IC FORUM LITTERING. Please do not litter IC forums with OoC posts. Use PM or IM instead whenever possible.
007. POST CODES. Anyone is welcome to use these. Just don’t abuse them. If it isn’t listed here, don’t use it.
[p] – private. Only people who are invited may reply. Please don’t overuse this!
[attn] – attention. Use this when your thread is “all welcome,” but in addition to whoever might reply you would also like a specific person/group to participate (i.e. a pack Alpha, or members of a certain pack, etc.).
[m] – mature content. So everybody will know to watch – er, avoid – your thread. ;)
[aw] – all welcome. Anyone may reply.
[arc] – finished thread that can be archived. Instead of using this tag, please post in Thread Maintenance about the thread so it can be archived.
[dead] – dead/inactive thread. Instead of using this tag, please post in Thread Maintenance about the thread so it can be archived. 008. POST LENGTH. We’re not obsessive about post length, but we appreciate quality over quantity. Please avoid posts that are ridiculously short — around two paragraphs or so minimum is a nice average. If you think it might be too short, keep writing!
009. PERSPECTIVE. Please write all IC posts in the third person perspective, using past tense. For example, instead of writing “I go to the creek,” you would write “She went to the creek.” If you have any questions or confusion regarding this, post in Game Support.
Character Progress
010. ONE IC DAY = ONE OOC DAY. Our game runs on real-time, meaning each day in the game is 24 hours long.
011. IT HAPPENED 5 YEARS AGO. All IC events take place exactly five years behind the current OoC date. For example, if the current date in real life is October 1, 2008, the date in game is October 1, 2003.
012. FIGHTING, ETC. Characters may fight or spar. No rank or mate challenges unless previously arranged with all participants and the Administration. Roleplay fairly: no powerplay, god-mode, autohit, autokill, metaplaying, etc.
013. REALISM. Your character should behave in a manner reflective of how wolves — or whatever animal they are — behave in the wild. If you are unfamiliar with wolf behavior, check out the Wolf Behavior article. No magic. Also, please be careful when putting your character into dangerous IC situations; if it's not likely your character will survive it, then it may have to die whether you want it to or not. Think first!
014. ♥ MATES. Your character has to be an adult (12+ months) to officially have a mate. Mates have to be in the same pack to be official. When your character finds a mate, please PM your pack’s Alpha(s) so they can update your names in the member list. Then, go post in Game Support and share the good news!
015. AWW! PUPPIES! Litter restrictions: 1 – 4 puppies per litter. Mating season runs November – May; puppies may be born January – July. Only Alphas may breed freely (with permission from the Administration); all other characters must receive permission (IC and OOC) from their Alphas. Alphas will then notify the Administration of how many puppies their pack is expecting to have. Wolves must be at least two (2) years old to have puppies. Gestation (pregnancy) runs about 63 days. You may ask for any number of puppies but ultimately what you are permitted to have will depend on your character’s rank and age, along with your activity as a roleplayer and longevity in the game with the character you’re breeding.
015a. PUPPY ROLEPLAYERS. “Parents” will be responsible for finding roleplayers for their puppies. Toward the end of the year, the Administration will post a listing of all the puppies to be born in the game so that prospective roleplayers can choose the puppy they want and apply for it accordingly. If no roleplayer has been found for a puppy by the time it turns one (1) month old, it MUST die. After all, in the real world, not all puppies survive to adulthood, and this helps prevent overcrowding the game with puppies nobody wants. Puppies receive adult ranks when they turn one (1) year old. Please see the Puppy Development Guide for more information.
015b. “ILLICIT” PUPPIES In the wild, illicit puppies and their parents are killed or exiled from the pack. It is not common and will therefore be permitted only in extremely rare circumstances.
015c. PUPPY + ADULT IN THE SAME PACK You may play an adult and a puppy in the same pack as long as a.) the puppy is born into the pack and b.) either your puppy or your adult character leaves the pack before the puppy reaches the adult ranks. You are only permitted to have one character in the adult ranks of a pack. |
